Much Ado About Puffin

Open Attic’s first family show comes to West London’s Watermans Arts Centre after a successful 2016 run at the Wardrobe Theatre in Old Market, Bristol. In this heart-warming, humorous tale of a man and a bird on the stormy sea, new friendships are forged and fears overcome as characters step out into the unknown. With skilful puppetry, beautiful music and wonderful storytelling, Much Ado about Puffin is a lovely family affair. It is recommended for children aged 4-8 and their families.

Michael Rosen’s Chocolate Cake

Michael Rosen’s beloved poem ‘Chocolate Cake’ has been adapted into a children’s musical by the brilliant Peter Glanville and Barb Jungr, who have also been behind massively popular adaptations ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’ and ‘How To Hide A Lion’. This is one for adults to enjoy just as much as kids, as ‘Chocolate Cake’ was first published over 35 years ago and is bound to have been a treasured childhood favourite for many parents in the audience. The adaptation follows the adventures of two brothers and the night-time disappearance of a chocolate cake and is a wonderfully funny watch recommended for ages 4+.

Matilda the Musical

Matilda the Musical is a real treat for the whole family, celebrated and adored by children and adults alike. Created by playwright Dennis Kelly and comedian-songsmith Tim Minchin, the musical had its first run in Stratford-upon Avon, before transferring to the West End in 2011 where it has since won a host of awards. Based on the much loved, wonderfully grotesque tale by Roald Dahl, ‘Matilda’ is terrifying, hilarious and heart-warming in equal measures. Being well acquainted with the story won’t prevent it from keeping you on the edge of your seat, as you’ll be recoiling in horror at the terrible Miss Trunchbull and praying for Matilda and Miss Honey just as you did when you read the book or watched the film. The show is suitable for ages 6+ and is recommended for a general audience.

Pirates of the Carabina: Relentless Unstoppable Human Machine

As part of Roundhouse’s CircusFest 2018, circus company Pirates of the Carabina are coming to London to perform brand new show ‘Relentless Unstoppable Human Machine’. The family-friendly show is an adventure into a world of mechanical chaos, where contraptions come to life and our heroes begin to question their place in these strange events.

Performers masterfully navigate the fixtures on set to an original live score. The acrobats are truly fantastic, with the show featuring a vertical-swinging trapeze, a spinning carousel, never ending ropes and high-wire.
